We can offer certified organic lamb to you again!

The animals are certified BioGro,
your guarantee that exacting organic standards have been followed. After the last year's bad message from Harris Meats that they have closed down slaughtering for any 'private' customers, we have good news now
We’ve managed to sort out approved slaughter followed by cutting in a manufacturing butchery in Kaiapoi, just north of Christchurch. The last leg of the freight to you is not finalised, but that should be the least of our problems. We will offer a  standard presentation – a mix of chops (loin, neck and shoulder), and roasts (hind quarters, halved (or possibly rolled) shoulders) – boxed and ready for delivery or pick up from the end of November. Let us know before too long if you are keen to get one or some, but in any case contact us if you have any questions/need more info. They will be about 20-25 kgs/box and the flat box price is $320/kg.

Old news - we offer for ages

Tree Planting on Milmore Downs for CO2 Capture

Everybody of us has his/her own CO2 footprint on our planet, smaller ones and bigger ones. Altogether we in the industrialized world produce far too much. But there are lots of possibilities to compensate them and to contribute to climate repair, one is to plant trees, but not everyone has practically access to land, and that's where we can help.

Are you motivated? You can visit our linked site www.carbon.org.nz and see the many advantageous effects of tree planting.

Contact us (at the moment only under our email address (milmoredownsnz@gmail.com) to realize your dream and contribution. Your motivation can make it happen that more and more trees grow for a better climate.

We tried to find out about the original cover in the valley and there are some very small pockets in gullies on the farms down toward Waikari. You can get a bit of an idea. We want to re-establish natives in that style – looking back toward the cover that was here before those hill became the 'Black Hills' due to a major fire set by an Oat/chaff mill in the 1870's. It burnt from Waikari to the coast!

BioGro Chook Wheat available

Here's a bargain for those of you with poultry! Normally we sell our grains and flours for human consumption only, but one of our farm suppliers had big issues getting in his wheat and the line doesn't meet our strict baking quality criteria. However, it is still a high quality feed grain, ideal for your free range flock.

White Dinkel flour from Milmore Downs

Our new product, white Dinkel/spelt flour with a bit of bran left in product ( where the good content sits). Go to our ordering page, click Dinkel and the whole range of products opens up.

Great News for Mushroom Growers

We have a good amount of BioGro/Demeter certified whole rye (maybe her a read more?) that is showing some sprout damage due to the very difficult harvesting conditions we experienced this summer. Unfortunately the damage is sufficient that the grain is not good baking quality but in all other respects is best organic material. It is a good growing substrate for mushrooms – we can supply it whole or kibbled as desired at the highly discounted price of $0.90 per kg plus GST
